Nail Polish Trends for Fall/winter 2012/13

Four popular nail polish trends for fall/winter 2012/13:

1. High Impact glitters

Glitter nail polish used to be predominantly designed for girls. It was a clear coat with a few particles of glitter here and there. Recently though glitter nail polish has grown up. Now you will find many styles that create a high impact glitter look. Their ratio of glitter to nail polish is much higher than their predecessors, with some making your nails look like you have dipped them in a pot of glitter.

The pink glitter nail polish, shown below, does more than make a fashion statement. It is a breast cancer awareness polish, with $1 from every bottle sold going towards the Breast Cancer Campaign. Even with this charity component it will only set you back $9.50 at Sephora. It is by nails inc. London. Sephora often offers trend based nail products for a reasonable price.

2. Creative nail tips

At Fall/Winter 2012/13 fashion week models were seen wearing creative nail decals on the tips of their nails. A bit like a French manicure effect, but in all colors and prints.  The Ang Nail 3D French Tip Nail Polish Film nail tip stickers shown below, not only showcase this trend, but offer two more trends rolled into one. They feature glitter and animal print. They are from Amazon and only cost $3.99. You simply stick them on and can get up to 10 days wear out of them.

Nail tip stickers are great for artificial nail wearers, as the nail tip sticker can hide a French manicure that is growing out. You will find lots of styles on Amazon for a competitive price.

3. Deep Purple nail polish

If you like a more classic nail polish look, don’t worry ordinary nail polish is still popular. One of the key colors for fall/winter 2012/13 is deep Purple. This coincides with Purple being popular in fashion.

The OPI nail color below, is called Every month is Oktoberfest and it is from the fall 2012 Germany collection. It is available at Amazon for $8.50.

4. Classic shiny Red nails

Red nails never go out of style, and recently they have been quite popular on the runway and red carpet. Therefore many nail polish brands have released new red shades for fall/winter 2012/13. Take for example the color shown below, called Danke-shiny red by OPI. It is a ruby red with a little shimmer. It is also from the fall 2012 Germany collection. At the time of checking it was reduced to just $5.65 for a 0.5 ounce bottle on Amazon
